reACT Tobacco Free Rodeo
It all started in 2008. Thanks to the diligent work of the Montana High School Rodeo Association, Montana is the 1st state in the nation to have a Tobacco-Free Rodeo! Proving they have taken a stand and spoken out about tobacco having no place in our rodeos! Every year, students "Pledge to Wear Red" to show their support for being tobacco-free rodeo athletes. We honor and support all the great athletes who have made the decision to be free of tobacco and its deadly influence. The Montana Tobacco Use Prevention Program has been in Montana High School Rodeo since 2008. In the past six years, we have given out:
- 18 scholarships to Montana seniors attending an accredited institution of higher learning
- Over $34,000 went to active rodeo seniors who will pursue the sport in college
- 22 of our Tobacco Free Rodeo Series students have won breast collars
- 11 rodeo athletes have won saddle pads
- Tons of reACT gear
- reACT tobacco-free pins
Students from all across Montana sign a Tobacco-Free Rodeo Pledge (PDF) dedicating themselves to live a healthier life by remaining free of Tobacco.
