The City-County Health Department (CCHD) contracts with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality to review subdivisions of land in Cascade County less than 20 acres in size to assure compliance with the Montana Sanitation in Subdivisions Act. CCHD also reviews parcels of land being created that are between 20 to 160 acres in accordance with Cascade County Subdivision Regulations.

About the Review

Our review addresses:

  • Drinking water
  • Sewer services
  • Solid waste disposal
  • Storm water drainage

Parcels greater than 160 acres are exempt from review.

The Cascade County Planning Division reviews subdivisions for compliance with the Montana Subdivision and Platting Act and Cascade County Subdivision Regulations.

Starting the Process

Anyone interested in subdividing land should contact the County Planning Division first at 406-454-6905 to initiate the review process. County Planning and City-County Health coordinate their subdivision reviews for compliance with all subdivision regulations. Although not required, most developers choose consultants to assist them with the subdivision review process.
