Sheriff Jesse Slaughter took office January 1st, 2019. The Sheriff's Office primary concern is the safety and well-being of all persons and property in Cascade County.
Records Hours of Operation
The front counter is open Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM, excluding holidays.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Executing court-issued civil and criminal process
- Providing patrol and investigative functions
- Providing a secure, healthy detention facility
- Providing professional training for personnel
- Maintaining an accurate record-keeping system
Concealed Weapons Permits
Concealed weapons permits must be authorized and issued by the Sheriff's Office. For more information concerning these permits, please view our related links.
New and Renewal Applications will be accepted
Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Fingerprinting Services
Valid picture ID is required. The cost is $10 for 2 fingerprint cards.
Monday - Friday 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Also available at the Juvenile Detention Center

Thursday Evenings 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Rural Animal Control
Rural animal control is also performed by the Sheriff's Office. If you live outside the Great Falls city limits and have a concern and/or problem with domestic animals, please contact this office at 406-454-6820.

You now have the ability to interact with an incarcerated individual through Securus Technologies.
The Inmate telephone services are provided by Securus Technologies, all customer questions about billing and access, please call 800-844-6591, 24-hours a day.
Inmate mail Procedures
All personal mail will be opened and inspected. All personal mail will be scanned and distributed through our Digital Mailing Center (DMC) to the inmate’s tablet.
All original mailings will be discarded once it has been scanned via DMC and set to the inmate.
The following are requirements for all inmate mail received by the DMC:
- Mail must be addressed to the inmate using the inmate’s full name
- Mail must include the full name and address of the sender
- Mail must be 10 pages or less per envelope
- Page size no larger than 8.5” x 11”
- Photo size no larger than 5” x 7”, no polaroid photos, no photos of nude persons
- No items containing, depicting, or relating to sexually explicit activity, gang activity, illegal activity, violence, drug, or alcohol use, etc.
- No magazines, books, or packages
- No cash allowed
- No 3rd party mail
- No blank envelopes, blank paper, stamps, photocopies or laminated items, stickers, internet materials, newspaper clippings, or sticky notes
- No illegal substances or any other items considered as contraband
- No originals of important documents such as birth certificates, driver’s licenses, social security cards, green cards, etc., as these items cannot be returned
- No original photos or other irreplaceable or valuable items
