Meals on Wheels, aka/Home Delivered Meals within the Older Americans Act, provides a hot meal five days a week to residents of Great Falls. The purpose of the program is to reduce hunger and food insecurity and promote health and well-being as well as delay adverse health conditions. Additionally, our drivers provide an informal "welfare check" daily, which can bring peace of mind to the client and their family. The program is intended to provide meals for seniors who who are just returning home from the hospital, are no longer able to cook for themselves, or just cannot get to one of our group meal locations.
Information
Hot meals are delivered between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm daily. Meals on Wheels cannot guarantee the same delivery time daily, nor can we take requests for special delivery times. We provide a frozen meal the day prior to a holiday. We do not bill for our services. We accept suggested donations of $6/meal to offset costs of the program.
While income is not a factor, priority is given to seniors who have the greatest economic and social need, have low income, are a member of a low-income minority group, reside in a rural area, have limited English proficiency or are at risk of institutionalization
Other factors that will be considered are overall health, mobility, living conditions and contributors to the client's food insecurity.
To determine eligibility, a home visit is scheduled to assess the situation and the needs of the individual.
Cascade County Senior Nutrition does not refuse service based on race, color, or national origin.
